I started my addiction for farming when growing up on my grandfathers 110 acre farm (Fleckenstein and Sons), he had three huge greenhouses ( at least when I was little they were huge), and I would fill trays with dirt, then when everything would start growing it seemed like I would water the flower for days. Once I was older and could reach the peddles of the super A tractor, I would cultivate for hours and looking back, these were the best years! Grandpa always made it fun to work with him and he taught me so much about life and farming. For a few years after he quit farming, I didn't do much, but I did grow pumpkins with my sons to sell, and I also grew a few vegetables that my son sold to all the neighbors - he would go around the neighborhood selling and the neighbors all still talk about it and some still have the flyers that he made!
So in 2014, I met Robin and her love of flowers and growing vegetables started us talking... and in 2015, Fleckenstein Farms & Nursery was in its beginning stages. We rented five acres from a family friend and built a 10 x 20 greenhouse. We setup a road side stand on Rt.93 in Wilson, NY and started selling at the North Tonawanda Farmers Market. After the first year, we knew we wanted to keep going and expand, so we realized that we needed to buy our own property, if we wanted to continue. We started looking at farms for sale and through the 'grapevine' we found out that the Seafelt Farm was for sale. We contacted them and made an offer, which they accepted, and so, this is where Fleckenstein Farms & Nursery is now located. We have been at this location for the past few years and we are continually growing. ~Pete Fleckenstein
